Juneteenth a Major Taylor Recovery Ride

 
















Description:
 
Join us as we celebrate Juneteenth in Washington, DC for the 1st Major Taylor Regional Ride. DCC, MTCCDMV and MTCCVA will host this inaugural event where members from all of the Major Taylor clubs will gather in DC for the main event ride on Saturday followed by a recovery ride on Sunday. 

Sunday Day 2: This is the recovery ride. No cost for this ride.  Ride details will be shared soon

What to bring: Represent your club with your club kit

Event Rules:  Unfortunately cancellations or refunds are NOT allowed!  

Price: $35 or $25 for Major Taylor Clubs  (Major Taylor 1899 discount code)


The registration fee for this event is $25 with discount code MajorTaylor1899. The registration fee to will  cover:

 

Food and Drinks: (Wings, Hotdogs, Burgers (beef / veggie)), store purchased sides, eEntertainment, SAG and Insurance coverage.

 

Juneteenth Itinerary:

 

There are two routes (34 & 54 miles) to choose from originating out of Anacostia Park, 1500 Anacostia Dr, Washington, DC 20020:

 

DC Statehood Route 54 miles - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/35551940

This is a challenging route that is in the street and outlines the District of Columbia

6:00 - 6:45am: Packet Pickup (to include: Juneteenth RoadID Bib, Lunch Tear Off, Juneteenth Commemortive Medal, DMV Tourist Iinfo) 

Safety briefing and guidelines will follow registration check in with "Wheels Down" at 7 AM.  This is a challenging route that outlines the District of Columbia. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/35551940

 

Lake Artemesia Route- 30 miles - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/35551982

This is a moderate route that is mostly on a trail.

9:00- 9:45a: Packet Pickup (to included: Juneteenth RoadID Bib, Lunch Tear Off, Juneteenth Commemorative Medal, DMV Tourist Info

Each route will have multiple ride leaders to guide Major Taylor Cyclists around DC and Lake Artemesia regrouping at Hains Point. This will give cyclists the opportunity to ride a few laps around the infamous Hains Point Fight Club Loop (occurs Tuesday afternoon at 12pm) before parading through the city, hitting the MLK Memorial and Black Lives Matter Plaza.

 

The DMV Regional Committee (DCC, MTCCDMV, MTCCVA) has secured park permits, police escorts, SAG support, rest stop refreshments and restrooms.  If you have questions or concerns please forward them to mtccva@majortaylorva.org and the committee will  respond at our earliest convenience.review them and get a question and answer out to the body for full disclosure.

Please be sure to wear your club kit, bring your helmet, a spare inner tube, CO2 cartridge, bike pump, cell phone and a pleasant attitude.

Front and rear lights are recommended for this ride. The ride will NOT take place in rain or wet roads

Safety is our priority:
- Wear face covering/mask
- If you are sick, please stay home
- Avoid touching other riders
- Practice safe distancing at all times (6' rule)
- Bring your own hand sanitizer
