About this event
Description: It has become a club tradition to gather during Friendsgiving Weekend for the Major Taylor Birthday Ride to celebrate and honor the memory of the Legendary Major Taylor.
Marshall Walter "Major" Taylor (November 26, 1878 - June 21, 1932) won the sprint event at the 1899 World Track Championships in Montreal, Canada to become the first African American to win a world championship in cycling and the second black athlete to win a World Championship in any sport.
This year's route is a relatively flat loop through Somerset County.
Post-Ride Gathering: Join us for post-ride refreshments at Nopal Taqueria Moderna (456 Elizabeth Ave, Somerset, NJ 08873) just a short 5-minute drive from Colonial Park.

COVID-19: To minimize the spread of the virus we ask that all register from the website to avoid a paper sign in sheet at the start of the ride.

All riders must register for the ride. Let's roll out on time by registering before you arrive. This helps to quicken the check in process.

Please be sure to wear your club kit, bring your helmet, a spare inner tube, CO2 cartridge, bike pump, cell phone and a pleasant attitude. Social distancing requires us to bring a mask and maintain a distance of at least 6' and fell free to bring bring hand sanitizer for your added protection.
